Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths overview

The Functional Skills Level 2 Maths – Flexible Learning programme is designed for individuals who want to strengthen their core numeracy skills and build confidence for work, further study, or everyday life. This 12-week programme combines self-directed online learning with tutor guidance, one-to-one support, and optional monthly group sessions, allowing learners to study at a pace that suits them.

Learners develop practical maths skills including problem-solving, data handling, and applying numeracy to real-world scenarios. This TQUK-accredited qualification provides a solid foundation for progression into higher-level study or apprenticeships and supports improved employability and confidence in applying maths in everyday and workplace situations.

Entry Requirements

The Functional Skills Level 2 – Flexible Learning programme is available to individuals aged 19 and over who want to strengthen their core Maths skills for work, further study, or everyday life. It is particularly suitable for learners aiming to improve employability, access new career opportunities, or meet entry requirements for higher-level qualifications or apprenticeships.

Applicants must achieve a minimum Entry Level 3.5 at initial assessment and complete diagnostic assessments via Pass Functional Skills before starting the programme. Learners will need access to a PC or laptop with a reliable internet connection to fully engage with online learning, assessments, and monthly group sessions.

This 12-week intensive programme is ideal for learners who are motivated to focus solely on functional skills in a structured, fast-paced format. While the programme is largely self-directed, full tutor support, one-to-one guidance, and optional monthly drop-in sessions are provided to help learners progress confidently toward assessment and qualification.
