Supporting Workforce Development Through Levy Transfers

tend has played a key role in supporting a £400,000 apprenticeship levy transfer from The Access Group to national home care provider Home Instead, helping to fund the delivery of 80 care apprenticeships across the UK.

The funding has been provided through the government’s levy transfer scheme, which allows organisations to transfer up to 25% of their unused apprenticeship levy funds to another employer.

Working closely with both organisations, tend is supporting the delivery of apprenticeship training designed to help Home Instead continue investing in the development of its workforce. The programme includes a range of pathways, from Level 2 frontline care programmes through to bespoke Level 5 leadership training focused on team management, organisational change, and operational skills.

The initiative forms part of Home Instead’s Apprenticeship Academy, launched in partnership with tend in 2023, and highlights the growing importance of levy transfer funding in helping care organisations access high-quality, funded staff development opportunities.

Building Stronger Care Teams for the Future

With more than 10,000 care professionals supporting over 16,000 clients nationwide, Home Instead is using the funding to provide free, on-the-job training opportunities that support career progression and long-term workforce development.

Through the programme, learners are gaining practical knowledge, leadership capability, and industry-recognised qualifications designed to strengthen confidence and improve outcomes across the care sector.

The partnership also reflects the wider role apprenticeships can play in tackling ongoing challenges across health and social care, including skills shortages, recruitment pressures, and staff retention.

As a national training provider specialising in Health & Social Care, tend continues to support employers across the sector with apprenticeship and commercial training programmes that help organisations build stronger, more sustainable teams for the future.

“These apprenticeships are opening up career opportunities by creating several different pathways of learning for 80 individuals across a range of levels. This support has enabled us to significantly enhance our apprenticeship offering, which has also supported professional development of our teams and helped us to demonstrate a shared commitment to investing in the growth and expertise of our network.”
