Taylor’s Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker journey
From the very beginning, Taylor noticed herself growing from a professional standpoint.
She knew the programme would broaden her horizons, as that’s exactly what it’s designed to do. However, she was pleasantly surprised by the immediacy of it. As the course enhanced her knowledge, skills, and behaviours across key areas across key areas of her care vocation, Taylor was able to apply everything she learned instantly, in real time.
This significantly increased her confidence, as she could already feel, even at an early stage, that she was adding value to her team, as well as the care received by service users. Taylor could see for herself how her understanding of residents’ conditions was deepening, which enabled her to provide a higher level of care and support from the outset.
Balancing workplace duties with apprenticeship study
Like many apprentices in the UK today, Taylor found balancing work with her studies a challenge at times. That said, the level of support she received every step of the way made everything all the more manageable. Lisa, her Development Coach, adapted and tailored the learning to Taylor’s specific needs and preferred ways of working, making the experience incredibly personalised, as well as helpful and effective.
“Lisa was incredible,” Taylor told tend. “She encouraged and supported me whenever anything felt the least bit overwhelming.”
Support for her apprenticeship from fellow staff
Taylor also credited her management team for playing a key role in her success. She found her colleagues Charlie, Laura, and Lisa to be particularly positive role models who continuously praised and encouraged her development. “I would like them individually named and appreciated for their part,” Taylor requested. “They’ve had a huge impact during my apprenticeship. Without them, it wouldn’t have been achievable for me.”
The support and understanding of her employer and colleagues helped to bolster her confidence in ways she hadn’t expected, and enabled her to believe in herself as a future senior team member. The difference this made was undeniable in Taylor’s eyes.
“To anyone considering the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship, I’d say, 100% do it. The knowledge you gain is invaluable; and your skills and behaviours develop in right in front of your eyes.”
