tend™, a people-first training provider led by sector experts, has launched a new HSC Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant Apprenticeship, with enrolments opening from 1 December 2025.

This new programme expands our growing pharmacy training portfolio, building on the success of its existing Level 3 provision. It offers a flexible, practical route for employers to build confident support staff, ready to meet the real pressures faced by pharmacies across England.

Learners develop practical skills in dispensing, safety, customer care and pharmacy law, giving learners the confidence to contribute from day one.

Solving Pharmacy staffing gaps with practical support

With over 1,300 pharmacy support roles unfilled across England and 1 in 4 employers struggling to recruit pharmacy assistants (Health Education England), the need for job-ready support staff is clear.

The tend apprenticeship offers a practical solution. Employers in England may be eligible for up to 100% funding, making it a cost-effective way to strengthen teams.

Dawn Edwins, Pharmacy Operations Performance Manager at tend, said:

“I’m excited to be part of a team bringing fresh energy to pharmacy education. Our Level 2 and 3 qualifications are designed and delivered by registered Pharmacy Technicians with decades of frontline and teaching experience. The curriculum is dynamic, up to date and built around real pharmacy practice. With blended learning and monthly one-to-one support, learners feel guided, confident and ready to grow. It’s a privilege to support apprentices and employers through training that truly makes a difference.”
