Support throughout your apprenticeship: all the help you need from tend

All the help you need
Effective professional development will see learners develop personally as well as professionally. At tend, your apprenticeship is designed to do this for you and more.
In addition to knowledge, skills and behaviours, tend-trained professionals receive structured and tailored guidance as well as ongoing support throughout your journey.
In this guide, we’ll outline all the ways our team will help you to complete you r course and succeed in your future career, for the good of tomorrow’s UK care sector – and beyond.
Types of apprenticeship support available from tend
As a valued learner, tend ensures you have access to a wide range of support, including:
- Development Coach support: regular one-to-one sessions to review progress, set goals, and provide feedback
- Workplace support: Guidance from your employer and colleagues to help you apply learning in practice
- Learning resources: Online materials and activities to support your development
- Additional learning support: Help with Functional Skills English and Maths(if that applies to you), and any specific learning needs you might have
- Safeguarding and wellbeing support: Clear routes to raise concerns and access help when you need it
With each of these elements in place, you can rest assured that you will have all the help you need to get the most out of your learning experience.
Monitoring your progress
How you’re doing with your programme will be regularly reviewed through:
- Structured reviews with your Development Coach
- Ongoing feedback on your performance and evidence
- Progress tracking against your apprenticeship standard
This ensures that you remain on track and are supported to achieve your End-Point Assessment (EPA) successfully and/or final qualification.
It’s okay to ask for help
You should speak to your Development Coach or employer if you:
- Feel overwhelmed or need additional help
- Are struggling to balance workload
- Do not understand a topic or task
- Have concerns about your wellbeing or workplace experience
It’s always okay to speak up. Early communication means appropriate support can be put in place. Not only can tend provide advice and help, but your employer will also have wellbeing resources you can utilise to help how you’re feeling.
Making the most of your free AoA membership
All tend learners are gifted free Association of Apprentices membership when they are enrolled. The AoA platform features a range of resources to support your learning journey, including:
- Community: Connect with like-minded peers and groups outside your organisation, take part in polls and discussions, network with apprentices like you
- Events: Access to exclusive masterclasses and more, designed to enhance your critical thinking, motivation, and self-awareness
- Development: Strengthen your soft skills as you move through your apprenticeship programme, with a range of videos and learning tools
AoA Connect is a bespoke social networking platform for Association of Apprentices members. Access is available via your desktop, or you can download the app to your Apple or Android device for access on the go. This is where you’ll meet like-minded and diverse groups of apprentices from across the UK, sign up for events, vote in polls, and connect with your peers.
AoA Learn helps you enhance your understanding to achieve your best and get the most out of your apprenticeship. You’ll begin with a self-assessment called Career Pulse to see which skills you need to thrive, and let the platform guide you to what you need from there. You’ll find interactive tools, e-Learning content, CV advice, and much more.
Some of the e-Learning resources on the AoA platform also count towards your off-the-job hours too. So, if you’re stuck for activities to help you log your 6 hours per week of role-enhancing training, your AoA membership has you covered.

tend has your back
At tend, we want everyone to succeed. Needing help isn’t a sign of weakness or inadequacy. Recognising that you need support and asking for it demonstrates strength and self-awareness.
Help is there when you need it. Your Development Coach is your confidant, your teacher, your advisor, your guide. They will have a range of resources to recommend to you, and will be there for whatever you need. Your employer will also be able to make recommendations and point you towards services and tools to help you thrive. Your Association of Apprentices membership also provides access to materials, tips, learning and advice, as well as a network of people to connect with who are all in the same boat as you.
The journey is different for everyone, but one thing unites apprentices and training providers alike, and that is we all want the best possible outcome for everyone involved. Making sure you have everything you need is a big part of ensuring those outcomes. You’ve got this, and tend is here to make sure you’ve always got this.
