This course is designed for learners already employed at a senior level, such as team leaders, support workers, care workers, or experienced social service workers in the healthcare and social services industry. Candidates should have prior experience in social care and healthcare practice, and hold responsibility for guiding, supervising or supporting others.

This course helps senior staff develop their core skills, knowledge and understanding to improve their practice in real social care settings, including care homes, homecare services, and third-sector projects such as homeless shelters or addiction support services. All care workers and social service workers in Scotland must register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting a role, and gain the relevant qualification within 3 years. This SQV Level 3 Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 7 course supports that requirement, helping senior staff meet SSSC standards within just 9 months, while progressing in the care professions.

You must also be able to commit to the full length of the programme, with attendance at each teaching session, and meet the programme modules within your job role. You must be employed through a care setting, and we also require a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland in order to work in this sector.

Upon successful completion, learners receive the SVQ social services and healthcare at SCQF Level 7, a nationally recognised qualification demonstrating competence in leadership, healthcare practice, and advanced social services skills.
